Do you have cakes available, or do I need to place an order?
We generally have small and large cakes ready and available for purchase. PLEASE NOTE: Options may be limited. To guarentee something specific, we recommend you place an order.
Can you guarentee your product hasn't come into contact with nuts?
No. However, if you place an order, we can be extra cautuious to ensure no contact on our end with ingredients and workspace, but we can offer no guarentees.
Do you take orders off the internet?
No, at the present time, we do not. Please call 519.787.3222 to speak to a cake lady.

Do you make birthday cakes?
Yes, we make cakes for ANY OCCASIONS!
Can you accomodate specific dietary needs?
Yes, we can. Gluten free, sugar free, egg free, lactose free, or combinations.

Can you put a photo on a cake?
Yes, we can. Or on cup cakes, or mini desserts or cookies...........endless possibilities.
Do you make party platters?
Yes we do! Different sizes, different varieties.
Do you sell/rent cake pans or supplies?
No, sorry, at the present time we do not.
What do you have available in the retail store?
A selection of cookies, squares, tarts, pastries, cakes and danishes.
We also have various lunch items available: sandwiches, soup, chili, savoury pastries, hot and cold beverages, and fresh baked bread.
When should I order my cake?
We recommend three months - 1 year notice for wedding cake orders. However, we have been known to take orders on far less notice. Please note that we cannot guarentee the availability of cakes ordered less then 2 months in advance. Cakes with lots of gum paste or pulled sugar flowers require more notice to prepare flowers. Generally speaking, the more elaborate the cake, the more notice we need.
Does it have to be fruit cake
Absolutely not! This is a common misconception which makes people afraid of wedding cakes. At Sweet and Simple, they taste as good as they look, even the fruitcake! All cakes are a pound cake that is heavy enough to provide structure, but at the same time is fluffy and moist. All pound cakes are layered with your choice of filling. Of course, you can always get fruit cake if that is what you like. There is no additional cost to have a variety of flavors.

Can I make an appointment with you?
Appointments for consultations can be made to sample the cake, discuss specific design elements, or to place an order. Consultations are subject to a $25 sitting fee, but if you place an order, the fee is waived. If you are just starting to plan your cake we suggest first coming into the store to look through the books to get some ideas before booking a consultation. You can come into the store at any time to do so.
Do You deliver the cake?
Yes we deliver. All cakes are subject to a delivery and set up fee depending on the wedding location. It is possible to pick up a small cake, but be advised you are responsible for it as soon as it leaves our doors. Most brides prefer to have it delivered, as it saves them time and a lot of anxiety on their special day. Due to the delicate nature of wedding cake transport, the Chef insists that all large cakes be delivered.
How much do your cakes cost?
It is impossible to set a price list for wedding cakes. There are many factors that impact the price. We take into account the amount of people you want to serve, the complexity and time involved in design elements and other things important to the bride and groom. Each cake is unique and custom designed. We will do our best to give you different design options so that you can stay within your budget. A good estimate is $3.00 per serving. For example: A three tiered round cake, covered in white fondant to serve 100-120 people starts at $300. A non refundable 50% deposit is due when you place your order, the balance of which is due 2 weeks prior to the wedding date. Specialty stands may be subject to a rental fee and deposit. Any stands rented must be returned within 2 weeks after the wedding date. Failure to do so will result in loss of deposit.
Do you make cupcakes?
Yes we do. Cupcakes are also a pound cake. You choose cake and frosting. Vanilla frosting can be tinted any color you like. As with wedding cakes, many design options are available. Prices start at $24 per dozen.
Do you make wedding favours?
Yes we do. There are many options available including cookies, petite fours, and take home cake favours. Prices are based on an individual basis depending on decoration.
